A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, has said that the APC, NDC and PDP are all courting him to join their parties, while stating that he and his supporters have given the ADC a two-week deadline to address what he described as injustice in the party’s governorship primary process.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that Dr. Inuwa made the disclosure during a second meeting he held with his supporters and various aspirants for elective offices on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Katsina. He said the gathering was aimed at discussing the controversy surrounding the decision by some party stakeholders to present Ahmad Babba Kaita as the ADC governorship candidate for Katsina State.
According to him, the process used to select the candidate violated party guidelines and electoral laws because neither a proper primary election nor a genuine consensus process acceptable to all stakeholders was conducted. He said he and his supporters are demanding either a fresh primary election or a clear explanation of the procedures used in selecting the candidate.
Dr. Inuwa further revealed that following his first meeting with supporters, some top APC leaders, including Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe and AUDA-NEPAD Chairman Jabiru Salisu Tsauri, visited him and sought his support for the ruling APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that the leader of the NDC, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, also invited him to join the party in order to strengthen efforts to challenge the APC in the next general election.
Speaking further, the former Secretary to the Katsina State Government disclosed that he had held discussions with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the acting national leader of the PDP, Tanimu Turaki, regarding his political future and preparations for the 2027 elections.
He said PDP leaders appealed to him and his supporters to return to the party and help strengthen its structure in Katsina State and across the North-West region. He also stated that during their discussions, Jonathan expressed his intention to seek the PDP presidential ticket for the 2027 election.
However, Dr. Inuwa stressed that he has not yet decided whether to join any political party. He said such an important decision would not be taken alone, as he intends to consult widely with his supporters and other stakeholders before announcing his final position.
He also noted that several issues within the ADC still require clarification, adding that there remains uncertainty over the party’s governorship candidacy in Katsina State until the disputes arising from the primary process are resolved.
Dr. Mustapha Inuwa’s remarks come amid growing speculation about his political future ahead of the 2027 elections. Despite increasing interest from various political parties, he maintained that the door remains open for reconciliation with the ADC if the party addresses the complaints raised and ensures transparency, fairness and due process in its candidate selection process.
