The Qur’anic Education Advancement Network (QEAN), has honoured the Emir of Daura, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Faruk Umar, in recognition of his contributions to community development and public welfare in Katsina State.
The organisation, led by a network of Qur’anic memorizers, focuses on improving education, promoting economic empowerment, supporting peaceful coexistence, and encouraging good governance. Its programmes also aim to support communities, advance both Islamic and formal education, and strengthen unity for sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, the Katsina State Chairman of QEAN, Gwani Muhammad Ahmad, said the Emir received the award in recognition of his leadership, commitment to good governance, contributions to peace and security, support for women and young people, and efforts to improve the well-being of communities.
In his remarks, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji (Dr) Umar Faruk Umar, expressed appreciation for the recognition. He said the honour would encourage him to continue serving the people and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting development initiatives and community progress.
Some participants described the recognition as well deserved, noting that the Emir’s support for communities and people in need had made a positive contribution to society. They added that his continued efforts had helped improve the lives of many people.
The event, held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, was attended by leaders and members of the Katsina State chapter of QEAN, as well as members of the Emir’s council. The gathering highlighted the importance of community service and collective efforts toward sustainable development.
