The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KATSACA) has commenced a five-day stakeholders’ meeting aimed at promoting human rights, preventing discrimination, and strengthening efforts to reduce the spread of HIV across the state.
The meeting, which began on Monday, August 3, 2026, is being organized by KATSACA under the leadership of its Executive Secretary, Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia, in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), with support from the Global Fund (GF). It brings together key stakeholders to discuss ways of protecting vulnerable groups and improving public health interventions.
The workshop is taking place at Alhujrat Royal Suites in the GRA area of Katsina. According to the organizers, discussions are focused on reducing discrimination, particularly against women, young people, and vulnerable members of society, while promoting respect for human rights as part of the response to HIV and other related health challenges.
Resource persons from NACA and representatives of various organizations are participating in the sessions. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Katsina State in advancing awareness, protecting the rights of affected persons, and strengthening efforts to prevent HIV and other related diseases across communities.
The five-day meeting is expected to produce strategies that will enhance collaboration among stakeholders and strengthen the implementation of human rights and HIV prevention initiatives in all 34 local government areas of Katsina State.
