The Katsina State Police Command says it has foiled a suspected armed bandit attack on Sabon Gulbi Village in Musawa Local Government Area, recovering an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle during the operation.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on July 29, 2026, after the Musawa Police Division received a distress call that suspected armed bandits had entered the community.
The Divisional Police Officer, Musawa, reportedly led a joint tactical team comprising police operatives and personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps to the area. The police said the team responded promptly and engaged the suspects, successfully preventing the attack from continuing.
The command said one suspect was neutralised during the operation, while others reportedly fled the area. Following a search of the scene, the security team recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing five live rounds, and an operational motorcycle. The police said efforts were ongoing to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage commended the security personnel for their courage, professionalism, and cooperation, while also praising the timely information that supported the response. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security agency.
