Aliyu Maiwada Calls for Political Change in 2027, Criticises Tinubu and APC.

A public affairs commentator from Katsina State, Aliyu Maiwada Masanawa, has accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of failing to fulfill its promises to Nigerians and urged residents of Katsina State to carefully reconsider their political choices ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Maiwada made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Hikaya Newspaper, where he said that despite some development projects being carried out, many Nigerians are still facing economic hardship and declining living conditions. He alleged that the APC-led government has focused more on appointing politicians to positions and awarding contracts than on addressing the challenges affecting ordinary citizens.

According to him, the level of progress recorded under the current administration falls far short of the promises made to Nigerians before the election. He argued that the Tinubu government has not succeeded in convincing many citizens that it is effectively addressing key issues affecting their daily lives.

The commentator also compared the leadership style of the late former President, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, with that of some recent leaders. He said Yar’Adua demonstrated greater integrity, honesty, and commitment to fulfilling his promises while in office.

Speaking on developments in Katsina State, Maiwada acknowledged that road construction projects are ongoing within Katsina metropolis. However, he noted that residents in several rural communities continue to complain that they are not benefiting adequately from government development programmes.

He further expressed concern over the exploitation of mineral resources in Northern Nigeria by companies from other parts of the country, arguing that local communities should be given greater opportunities to benefit from the resources found in their areas.

On the security situation, Maiwada said that despite efforts by the Katsina State Government to support security agencies and community-based security groups, insecurity remains a major concern for residents. He stated that continued incidents of banditry and kidnapping show that both the federal and state governments need to intensify their efforts to improve security.

He concluded by saying that he does not currently belong to any political party. However, he advised the people of Katsina State to carefully evaluate their options before the 2027 elections. He said that if citizens are dissatisfied with the current state of governance, they should use their constitutional right to vote for leaders and political parties they believe can better address their challenges and improve their standard of living.
