Katsina, Kano Strengthen Partnership on Culture and Tourism

The Katsina State Government has taken a fresh step to strengthen cooperation with Kano State in the areas of cultural preservation, tourism development, and public awareness.

The Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Culture and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Isa Muhammad Musa Kankara, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism to deepen collaboration between the two states. The visit focused on building stronger institutional ties, sharing professional experience, and exploring joint initiatives to preserve cultural heritage and promote public awareness.

The delegation was received by the Kano State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Aisha Lawal Saji, who welcomed the visitors and described the meeting as an important step toward strengthening the long-standing cultural relationship between Kano and Katsina. She stressed the need for both states to work together to promote their rich cultural heritage and expand tourism opportunities.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Isa Muhammad Musa Kankara said the visit was part of the Katsina State Government’s broader efforts, under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, to revive traditional culture and strengthen public enlightenment programmes. He noted that preserving cultural values remains an important part of the state’s development agenda.

He added that his office is committed to working closely with government institutions, traditional leaders, cultural organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure that the cultural heritage of Katsina is properly preserved and passed on to future generations. He said stronger partnerships would also encourage innovation in cultural promotion and education.

Hon. Kankara expressed confidence that the partnership between Katsina and Kano would lead to new programmes and practical initiatives that would support cultural development, tourism growth, and public awareness in both states. He said exchanging ideas and experiences would help both governments achieve their shared goals.

The delegation included the Director of Culture and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Abubakar Ayuba, Abdurrahman Ashahabu, and other officials from the Katsina State Government. Senior officials of the Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, including the Permanent Secretary, also participated in the discussions and offered recommendations for strengthening future collaboration.

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of the Katsina State Government to preserving its cultural heritage while using culture as a tool for unity, education, tourism development, and sustainable social and economic progress.
