Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has directed all political appointees in his administration who have defected to, or publicly declared support for, other political parties to resign their appointments immediately.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the governor said the directive was necessary to maintain loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of public service. He stressed that political office holders are expected to support the policies, programmes, and political direction of the administration under which they serve.
According to a statement issued on June 10, 2026, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri warned that continued service by appointees aligned with other parties could lead to sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of government policies and political strategies.
The governor directed all affected appointees to submit their resignation letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government within 48 hours. He also instructed the offices of the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service to compile and verify a list of all affected officials for compliance monitoring.
Fintiri further warned that anyone who fails to comply within the stipulated period would face immediate dismissal, loss of salaries and benefits, and other administrative actions. He said public office is a trust that must align with the vision, agenda, and mandate of the administration, adding that the government would not tolerate divided loyalty among its appointees.
