The Katsina State House of Assembly has pledged to give speedy consideration and passage to the 2027 Appropriation Bill presented by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, made the pledge on Tuesday during the budget presentation at the Assembly Chamber in Katsina. He described the occasion as significant, noting that it was the final budget of Governor Radda’s first tenure and the last budget to be received by the 8th Assembly.
Daura said the Executive and Legislature had maintained a cordial working relationship over the past four years, which he said contributed to progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, security and human capital development.
“On behalf of Honourable Members, I appreciate Your Excellency for your support to this House. We also commend you for the developmental projects and programmes across the state,” Daura said. He added that the 8th Assembly had passed more than 50 Bills, considered several motions and carried out oversight functions in the interest of the people.
He assured the Governor that the House would carefully study the 2027 budget and pass it within the shortest possible time to support continued delivery of public services.
The Speaker also declared the Assembly’s support for Governor Radda’s bid for a second term and expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. Daura said the occasion would be his last time receiving the Governor as Speaker of the 8th Assembly.
He thanked God for the opportunity to serve and appreciated Governor Radda for his cooperation, while urging returning and incoming lawmakers to remain united and committed to the development of Katsina State.
The budget presentation was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Garba Faskari; former Deputy Governor, Tukur Jikamshi; former Governor of Borno State, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd.); members of the State Executive Council; traditional rulers; heads of government agencies; political party leaders and other stakeholders. Daura also prayed for divine guidance and protection for Governor Radda and expressed his wish for success in the Governor’s second-term bid.
