President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Major General Adeyinka A. Famadewa (Rtd) as Special Adviser on Homeland Security. The appointment was announced in a circular signed by George Akume and issued by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.
The Presidency said the appointment is aimed at strengthening internal security coordination, intelligence operations, and collaboration among security agencies in the country. It added that the Tinubu administration remains committed to improving Nigeria’s security system and addressing emerging security threats.
Major General Famadewa is a retired senior military officer with more than 30 years of experience in military and intelligence service. He previously served as Principal General Staff Officer to the National Security Adviser between 2015 and 2021, where he helped to establish the Intelligence Fusion Centre for improved intelligence sharing among security agencies.
After his retirement from active service, Famadewa became a Senior Research Fellow at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja. He also contributed to research and policy discussions on policing, civil-security cooperation, and national security reform in Nigeria.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the retired General would use his experience and strategic knowledge to support the administration’s efforts toward achieving a safer and more secure Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
