Governor Uba Sani has inaugurated the Kaduna State Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) Peace and Security Committee as part of efforts to improve safety and stability in the state.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the initiative is a major step to protect lives and support long-term peace. He noted that Kaduna State has been selected as the pilot state for the programme, showing national confidence in its security approach known as the Kaduna Peace Model.
He explained that his administration is using both military action and non-violent measures to address insecurity, including tackling root causes like poverty, exclusion, and lack of opportunities. He added that collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, the National Counter Terrorism Centre, and other security agencies has improved intelligence sharing and made key routes like the Kaduna–Abuja road safer.
The governor said the new committee, led by Abdulkadir Muazu Meyare, will focus on rehabilitating and reintegrating people who leave violence, while building trust in communities. He expressed confidence that the effort will help create lasting peace, stronger security, and better opportunities for residents.
