President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the Katsina State Agricultural Mechanisation Centre. The centre features 400 brand new tractors and various supporting implements, aimed at modernizing agriculture in the region.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that during the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of agriculture in Nigeria’s development strategy, stating, “This isn’t just about machines—it’s about food security, economic empowerment, and the future of our youth.” He praised the achievements of Katsina’s Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, highlighting the remarkable progress made in agriculture, infrastructure, and social development within just two years of his administration.
The President reassured the people of Katsina of the Federal Government’s unwavering support for their governor, declaring, “Your governor is not walking alone—the Federal Government is standing with him, side by side.” He also announced plans to restructure and recapitalize the Bank of Agriculture to ensure accessible funding for farmers, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to achieving food sovereignty.
In addition to agricultural advancements, President Tinubu acknowledged the completion of the 24km Ajiwa-Ruwan Godiya road, calling it a testament to effective governance. He confirmed that the second phase of the Katsina-Kano Road project is underway and announced contracts for the rehabilitation of key roads in the state, which will enhance connectivity and support economic growth.
Governor Radda, in his remarks, outlined his administration’s focus on agriculture, infrastructure, human capital development, and security. He noted that the newly commissioned Agricultural Mechanisation Centre will serve all 34 local government areas in Katsina, providing essential resources to over 450,000 smallholder farmers. Radda also highlighted the state’s investment in fertilizer distribution and irrigation support to address challenges faced by farmers.
Governor Radda also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for federal support in combating insecurity and for the significant investments in infrastructure, including a large-scale water improvement project. He thanked local leaders for their contributions to the development agenda, reinforcing the collaborative effort needed to build a prosperous future for Katsina.
