The Kano State Police Command has successfully recovered two motor vehicles reported stolen through the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) Platform.
According to reports, on January 1, 2025, a resident of Abuja reported that his Toyota Corolla 2014 model was stolen at gunpoint during a test drive in Zuba, Abuja. Similarly, on January 4, 2025, a Mercedes Benz C300 was reported stolen from the Luxirian Event Center in Nassarawa GRA, Kano.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, promptly responded to the incidents by assembling a team of detectives from the Anti-Car Theft Unit. The team utilized the e-CMR platform to gather crucial information, leading to the successful recovery of the two stolen vehicles between January 10 and 15, 2025.
The recovered vehicles were found in Bauchi State and Shagari Quarters, Kano. The Commissioner of Police commended the detectives for their outstanding work and thanked the public for their continued support. Investigations into the two cases are ongoing.
The e-CMR platform has proven to be an effective tool in combating car theft in Nigeria. The platform allows members of the public to report stolen vehicles and provides law enforcement agencies with valuable information to aid in recovery efforts.¹
