The Katsina state government has donated ₦16.9 million to families affected by terrorism in Raɗɗa Ward, Charanchi LGA. This financial support is part of the government’s efforts to combat terrorism, armed robbery, animal theft, and kidnapping.
The beneficiaries of the financial support include families of those killed, injured, kidnapped, or whose property was destroyed by bandits. The support also extends to individuals whose animals were stolen by terrorists.
According to reports, the people of Kartaka, Farfaru, and Dangaladi in Raɗɗa district of Charanchi local government benefited from the support. The majority of the beneficiaries were individuals who terrorists rustled their animals.
Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Danja ‘Kogunan Jibia’, Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Katsina state on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), led the disbursement of the donation on behalf of the state government.
HIKAYA NEWSPAPER reports that the Katsina state government has established a compensation scheme for victims of Banditry. Families of military officers, police officers, or Community Watch Corps officers who lost their lives in the battlefield receive ₦1 million. Families of injured officers and civilian who killed by bandits receive ₦200,000, while families of kidnapped individuals receive ₦100,000.
In addition to the financial support, the Katsina state government has also initiated measures to support the education of children affected by terrorism. Governor Dikko Umar Radda has directed that refugee’s children be repatriated and given admission to primary or secondary schools closest to them without any collectaral of certificates.
The government’s efforts have been praised by stakeholders, including the Barebarin Radda, Alhaji Kabiru Umar Radda. He commended the government’s commitment to ending security challenges and ensuring the safety of lives and property.
Alhaji Yahaya Asassauta, APC chairman party of Katsina zone, also praised the governor’s efforts to address security challenges. He called on the state government to continue working to overcome the challenge of insecurity.
The grant presention, which took place at Barebarin Radda Palace on Friday, January 3, 2025, was attended by politicians, traditional office holders, security officials, and others. Beneficiaries of the support expressed their gratitude and vowed to use the financial support appropriately.
