A shocking investigation by Danmasani Radio has uncovered a scandalous negligence case involving the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KATCHMA), resulting in the tragic death of newborn twins.
According to Abubakar Ayuba Masanawa, publisher of Danmasani Radio that broadcast online, the twins’ mother, his wife, was enrolled in the KATCHMA health system, which deducts a portion of workers’ salaries for healthcare.
Masanawa recounted the harrowing experience, stating that as his wife’s delivery date approached, the hospital informed them that they couldn’t accept her due to outstanding debts owed to KATCHMA.
The expectant mother was forced to seek alternative care, but the hospital’s negligence and lack of equipment ultimately led to the tragic loss of the twins.
Masanawa attributed the twins’ death to KATCHMA’s ineffective nursing and midwifery systems, inadequate equipment, and staff negligence.
He expressed frustration with the healthcare system, citing the hospital’s demand for additional tests and the unavailability of obstetricians.
Masanawa’s wife was eventually rushed to the Turai Yar’adua Hospital, owned by the Katsina state government, where they faced further neglect and abuse from healthcare workers.
The investigation highlights the systemic failures within KATCHMA and the devastating consequences for families relying on the healthcare system.
The Katsina State Government has yet to comment on the incident, sparking concerns about accountability and the need for urgent reforms within the healthcare sector.
The tragic loss of the twins has sparked outrage, with many calling for immediate action to address the systemic failures within KATCHMA and ensure that such incidents never happen again.
