The Kano State Police Command has arrested Kabiru Jamilu, a 21-year-old resident of Zango Quarters, Kano, identified as the mastermind behind the resurgence of Daba fighting between Kofar Mata and Zango youths.
The arrest was made on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 8:40 pm, by a team of Policemen deployed at Kofar Mata/Zango junction near Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital Kano.
During preliminary investigations, Kabiru Jamilu confessed to spearheading the fighting. Further investigations led to the arrest of Umar Garba, 32, a resident of Zango Quarters Kano, who was found in possession of a sharp long knife.
Both suspects have been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
In a Press Release issued by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated that the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has urged residents of Kofar Mata and Zango Quarters to cooperate with the Police by providing information to completely address the situation.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the Command encourages the public to report emergencies to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency contact numbers.
The swift action by the Kano State Police Command aims to restore peace and order in the affected areas. The Command’s efforts to address the violence and ensure public safety are ongoing, with a call to action for residents to support the Police in maintaining law and orlder.
