Cherish College of Nursing Sciences, Katsina, has held its fourth matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students, including those who will begin studies in Midwifery and National Diploma programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, represented by the Chairman of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), Hon. Babangida Ruma, congratulated the students on securing admission into the institution.
He urged them to remain focused on their studies, adhere strictly to the institution’s rules and regulations, and uphold the discipline and ethical standards required in the health profession.
The governor’s representative stated that the state government places high priority on healthcare and education through the provision of learning facilities, student support initiatives, and the improvement of training institutions. He assured the students that the government would continue to provide the necessary care and support, particularly by ensuring a conducive learning environment and practical training opportunities in government hospitals and health centers.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Hon. Muhammadu Nuhu Nagaske, commended the state government for its consistent support to students. He assured them that with dedication and hard work, the government is ready to support them through advanced training programmes, scholarships, and even opportunities for further studies abroad.
In his address, the Provost of the College, Dr. Abubakar Halliru Kankia, stated that the institution’s mission is to produce competent, skilled, and ethically grounded health professionals who can perform effectively anywhere in the world. He explained that the college collaborates with relevant health authorities to ensure its curriculum meets national and international standards.
The Provost further noted that the institution has provided well-equipped laboratories, modern nursing training facilities, qualified lecturers, and structured clinical training programmes in hospitals to ensure students receive both theoretical and practical knowledge. He advised the students to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and committed to the noble profession they have chosen.
Also speaking, the Katsina State Coordinator of JAMB, Malam Nasiru Garba Magashi, congratulated the students and emphasized the importance of respecting lecturers, obeying institutional regulations, and showing dedication to their studies.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the ceremony took place at the college auditorium located at No. 6, Queen Amina Road, GRA Katsina, and was attended by parents, special guests, academic staff, and management officials, during which the new students took their matriculation oath in accordance with the ethics of the health profession.
