The DMG Foundation has provided fuel support worth ₦7,000 each to commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) operators in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The foundation, widely known for its community-based interventions in Jibia and led by Alhaji Nura Abdullahi, popularly known as “Tallafin Jibia,” distributed the fuel assistance to boost transportation activities within the local government. The initiative is aimed at easing operational costs for drivers, improving mobility, and enhancing economic activities in the area, particularly amid rising fuel prices.
The distribution exercise was formally launched by the former Vice Chairman of Jibia Local Government, Hon. Hamisu Soli, at Dan Yaro Filling Station along the Katsina Road. He represented the Member of the House of Representatives for Kaita and Jibia Federal Constituency, Hon. Sada Soli. In his remarks, he commended the foundation for complementing government efforts in supporting small-scale transport operators and strengthening grassroots development.
Speaking to journalists, the Chairman of the DMG Foundation, Alhaji Nura Abdullahi, disclosed that about 110 tricycle operators benefited from the intervention.
He stated that the gesture was designed to cushion the economic challenges faced by drivers and to ensure steady transportation services for residents of Jibia. He added that the foundation remains committed to initiating programmes that directly impact livelihoods and promote local economic growth.
In a separate interview shortly after the event, the Chairman of Jibia Local Government, Hon. Sirajo Ado, praised the foundation’s continuous support to the community.
He recalled that the local government had earlier provided 100 identification numbers to the tricycle operators’ union to address recurring misunderstandings between drivers and traffic officials, thereby promoting order and proper regulation within the transport sector.
The Secretary of the DMG Foundation, Alhaji Sa’adu Salisu, also known as Sarkin Tsaftar Jibia, explained that the foundation draws inspiration from the humanitarian efforts of Governor Dikko Umar Radda and Hon. Sada Soli in supporting communities.
Meanwhile, the tricycle operators expressed appreciation for the assistance and pledged their continued cooperation with the foundation, assuring their readiness to support initiatives they believe will advance the development of Jibia, particularly in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
