Muslim residents of Shinkafi in Katsina Local Government Area of Katsina State gathered in large numbers to celebrate the Qur’anic graduation of 46 students of Ma’ahadi Sheikh Ja’afar Attaƙafi Al-Islami Litahfizul Qur’an, an Islamic school and centre for Qur’anic memorisation, Arabic language and religious studies.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that smong the graduating students, 39 were females and seven were males, reflecting the growing acceptance and respect for Qur’anic education in the area.
The ceremony, which was the fifth Qur’anic graduation held by the school in 2026, took place on Saturday, February 1, 2026, under the leadership of Malam Ja’afaru Abubakar. Islamic scholars, parents, community leaders and other stakeholders attended the event to show support and share in the joy of the occasion.
Speaking to journalists, Malam Ja’afaru Abubakar stressed the importance of Islamic education in shaping moral values and building a disciplined society. He delivered a touching admonition, citing verses from the Qur’an and Hadiths, and urged parents and young people to embrace Qur’anic teachings as a foundation for righteous living and peaceful coexistence.
The school head also gave a brief history of the institution, explaining that it started with 40 students in its first year and has now grown to over 600 students. He described this growth as evidence of the dedication of the teachers, the trust of the community and the effectiveness of the school’s teaching and moral training system.
In his remarks, the representative of the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdurrashid Abubakar, popularly known as “Turaren Katsina,” commended the school for its role in producing Qur’anic memorizers and nurturing moral discipline among youths.
Similarly, a renowned Islamic scholar, Khalifa Sheikh Abdullahi Mai Dala’ilu, called on the graduating students to intensify their pursuit of Islamic knowledge and urged political leaders to respect and support religious activities, emphasizing the importance of attending Islamic gatherings.
Some parents of the graduating students, including Mai Unguwa Muhammadu, expressed satisfaction with the dedication and perseverance of the teachers, describing the school as a source of pride for the community.
The graduating students also expressed happiness and gratitude to Almighty Allah, while appreciating their teachers and parents for their patience, guidance and commitment to their Islamic upbringing.
