Katsina Govt Distributes Materials to Strengthen Agriculture

The Katsina State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (KTARDA) has launched the distribution of extension working materials to 34 Block Extension Supervisors and 722 Extension Agents as part of ongoing reforms to boost agricultural productivity across the state.

Speaking, KTARDA Managing Director, Abubakar Dabo, reaffirmed Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s commitment to advancing agriculture through improved technologies, enhanced seeds, fertilizers, farm implements and other essential inputs. He explained that the state recently employed 722 agricultural extension workers to strengthen extension delivery and noted that both farmers and extension agents had undergone capacity-building programmes to improve production across farming communities.

In a media briefing after the event, Commissioner for Agricultural Development, Hon. Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, commended Governor Radda for prioritizing agriculture, saying the ministry and its agencies were achieving significant progress because the governor is a seasoned professional in the field.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that he also praised KTARDA’s leadership, noting that its efforts contributed to the success of Katsina farmers, including three who recently won national recognition during the 17th National Agricultural Show held in Nasarawa State.

The distribution exercise held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at KTARDA Headquarters in Katsina, included materials and tools for field activities, notably the “Field Agricultural Activity Diary for Extension Agents,” produced by the Ministry of Agricultural Development. Officials said the intervention will improve documentation, supervision and the quality of advisory services provided to farmers across all local government areas.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government and KTARDA, saying the materials would greatly enhance their field operations and motivate them to deliver better services. They described the gesture as a major boost to agricultural development efforts and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in them by working closely with farmers to improve yields and strengthen food security in Katsina State.
