The Kaduna State Government says its ongoing road rehabilitation and new construction projects across the state will help reopen closed businesses, revive industries and improve transportation, particularly in major industrial corridors.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that Managing Director of the Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, stated this on Tuesday during an inspection of projects in Kakuri industrial layout, Barnawa, Pan Drive–Television Road, and the Raba–Rigasa dual carriageway.
Dr. Ahmed explained that many of the projects were inherited from the previous administration but could not progress due to unpaid certificates, outstanding compensations, and the need to relocate utility lines.
He said Governor Uba Sani revived the projects and cleared huge financial obligations to ensure continuous work. For instance, he said the Kakuri–Nasarawa–Flour Mills Road, inherited at 25 percent completion, has now reached 65 percent with major binder layers already laid, allowing industries in the area to revive operations.
He added that the governor also released nearly one billion naira in compensations for about 120 affected households along the Raba–Rigasa corridor. Describing the road as one of the most critical projects under construction, he said it links Arewa House through Mahuta to the Rigasa train station.
The project, inherited at 30 percent completion, has made significant progress following drainage and binder works. The Kabala–Aliyu Makama–Barnawa dual carriageway, he noted, has already received asphalt, with bridge components underway.
Project Manager of CCECC Kaduna office, Henry Zhang, confirmed the progress, stating that more than 30 percent of the Raba road has been completed, including three kilometres of stone base and binder course. He assured that with continued government support, the construction company would finish the project as soon as possible.
Residents also commended Governor Uba Sani for the pace of work and expressed strong support for his leadership. Moses Haruna from the Television area said youths in Southern Kaduna were ready to contribute funds to purchase a nomination form for the governor’s second term, describing the ongoing projects as evidence of impactful leadership.
Another resident, Ladidi Abubakar from Kabala, said the improved road conditions had brought relief to the community. KADRA said work will continue across the state as weather conditions and funding allow.
