Katsina Marks 2025 World AIDS Day with Rally

The Katsina State Agency for the Control of AIDS (KATSACA) on Sunday held a rally to commemorate the 2025 World AIDS Day with the theme “Sustaining Nigeria’s HIV Response.” The awareness march covered major streets in Katsina metropolis.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the rally kicked off from the agency’s headquarters and moved through Kofar Soro, Green House Road, Kandahar Road, Tsowar Kasuwa, Sabon Layi, Ladan Wapa Roundabout, and terminated at the Katsina General Hospital.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, the Executive Secretary of KATSACA, Dr. Bala Nuhu Kankia, said the rally was organized to further enlighten the public on the importance of regular HIV testing, which he described as vital for individuals to know their status and protect their health.

Dr. Kankia, who holds the title Sadaukin Kankia, affirmed that Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has been providing the agency with full, 100 percent support in its efforts to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS in the state. According to him, this support has strengthened interventions and improved services across all local government areas.

He revealed that KATSACA has identified people living with HIV and supported them with food items such as bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, and cooking oil. He added that orphans who lost their parents to AIDS were also identified and included among the beneficiaries.

Dr. Kankia appealed to residents to continue supporting the fight against the disease by embracing regular testing, stressing that treatment remains free at designated centers in every local government area.
