Gov Radda Submits ₦145 Billion Supplementary Budget

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has presented the 2025 first supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the proposal, totaling over ₦145 billion, was conveyed to the Assembly during plenary by the House Leader, Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai, on behalf of the governor.

Hon. Dabai explained that the supplementary budget includes over ₦126.8 billion for capital expenditure and ₦18.6 billion for recurrent expenditure. He said the adjustment became necessary following appeals from some Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) that have already exhausted their capital allocations for the year.

The House Leader commended Governor Radda for his development-driven governance, noting that the proposal was timely given the number of completed and ongoing projects across the state. He urged the House to refer the estimates to the appropriate committee for legislative scrutiny to ensure speedy passage.

In his ruling, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abduljalal Haruna Runka, referred the supplementary budget to the Committee on Appropriations with a directive to present its report by Monday next week. The House also referred another request from the governor seeking virement for some MDAs to the Public Accounts Committee for further examination.
