Katsina Assembly Calls for Removal of SUBEB Member

The Katsina State House of Assembly has urged Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to dismiss Dr. Ibrahim Ishaq, Permanent Member I of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), over alleged unguarded comments he made against the Assembly during a public event.

The resolution was adopted during Thursday’s plenary session, presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. AbdulJalal Haruna Runka, after a motion of urgent public importance was raised by the House Leader, Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai.

Lawmakers noted that Dr. Ishaq had earlier been invited for clarification and reportedly admitted to making the remarks in question. They described his actions as a serious breach that tarnished the image of the legislature and risked inciting public unrest.

After an executive session, members unanimously resolved to communicate the matter to Governor Radda, urging him to take disciplinary action. Citing legal provisions and the gravity of the misconduct, the Assembly recommended that Dr. Ishaq be relieved of his position.
