The Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura, Jibia Study Center, has held its first inauguration of oath for newly elected executives of the Students Union Government (SUG) and the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the ceremony was presided over by Professor Ibrahim Sani of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, on Saturday, August 20, 2025, at conference hall of the GGSS, in Jibia, Katsina State.
Speaking at the occasion, the Coordinator of the Study Center, Dr. Mukhtar Lawal, declared that the institution formerly known as RAMSA College has now been converted into an official Study Center of the Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura. He urged students to remain committed to discipline, unity, and excellence in their academic pursuit, describing the new transformation as a milestone in the journey of the Center.
Delivering his remarks, Professor Ibrahim Sani, a member of the technical crew of the Study Center, charged the students to rededicate themselves to the pursuit of knowledge, describing education as the backbone of human development. He stressed that students must place priority on learning, as knowledge remains the true wealth that no one can take away.
Another guest speaker, Dr. Nuruddeen Sa’ad, encouraged the students to embrace responsibility, hard work, and moral discipline, saying education without character produces half-baked leaders. He urged the new leaders of SUG and MSSN to see their positions as a call to service rather than an opportunity for personal gain.
In his goodwill message, Imam Mukhtar Idris cited a brief history of the Study Center, noting that it originated from the Al-Ihsan Support Foundation and had from inception received support and guidance from the late Alhaji Sa’adu Moba. He further acknowledged the contributions of politicians, businessmen, and community members who stood by the institution to ensure its growth.
Representing the Chairman of Jibia Local Government, Hon. Sirajo Ado, Alhaji Usman Sale Marini assured that the local government is ready to partner with the Study Center by providing necessary assistance for its development. He pledged that the council will always welcome requests for support from the management of the Center.
The Secretary of Jibia People’s Forum, Malam Bishir Lawal, applauded the initiative of establishing the Study Center in Jibia, saying it would reduce the burden of students traveling far for education. Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Jibia Local Government, Abubakar Lawal, advised students to take their studies seriously and avoid distractions, reminding them that teachers can only guide but success lies in the students’ hands.
Highlighting academic opportunities, the Examination Officer, Malam Abubakar Rabi’u, explained the range of programmes offered at the Center. These include NCE courses such as Islamic Studies/English, Hausa/Islamic Studies, Arabic/Islamic Studies, Primary Education Studies, Business Education, and Social Studies/English. Diploma programmes offered include Hausa, Qur’anic Science, and Professional Diploma in Education, as well as Advance Judicial Certificate and Certificate in Translation. He outlined the entry requirements and announced that classes will run Mondays to Thursdays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and weekends from 8:00 am.
In her goodwill message, Hon. Lauratu Haruna, CEO of Jibia Foundation and representative of Hon. Ibrahim Sani Kaita, commended the Study Center for its commitment to high-quality education. She revealed that Hon. Kaita is making arrangements to award scholarships to many students to enable them pursue studies at the Center.
Speaking after the oath-taking, the new SUG President, Kamala Tanimu, promised to lead with fairness, transparency, and accountability. The newly sworn-in Amira of MSSN, Lawiza Sirajo Agaji, called on her members to uphold Islamic values and contribute to the moral upbringing of students. The Vice President of SUG, Safiyya Hamisu, emphasized the importance of academic excellence, urging her colleagues to remain focused and hardworking.
Also, Hikaya Newspaper cites that the Certificates of honor were later presented to dignitaries including Late Alhaji Sa’adu Moba, Alhaji Usman Sale Marini, Abdulkarim AK, among others, for their contributions to the growth of the Study Center.
