The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old man, Abdulmumini Alhaji Ahmadu, who was abducted by armed men in Kesan village, Shanga Local Government Area. The incident occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025.
According to the Command, upon receiving the report of the abduction, the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga mobilized a combined team of policemen and vigilantes. The team trailed the kidnappers into the forest, leading to the successful rescue of the victim. However, Abdulmumini sustained a gunshot injury on his left leg while escaping during the operation and was immediately taken to a medical facility for treatment.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, reaffirmed the determination of the Command to safeguard lives and property across the state. “The CP calls on residents to be vigilant and to support the police and other security agencies with vital, accurate, and timely information, as partnership with citizens remains key to combating criminality,” said CSP Nafiu Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer.
The Kebbi State Police Command noted that the operation reflects its ongoing commitment to fighting kidnapping and other forms of crime. The Command added that similar operations have in recent months resulted in significant breakthroughs against criminal elements across the state.
