The Katsina State Government has disbursed ₦11,250,000 million as financial assistance to victims of recent bandit attacks in Bakori and Faskari Local Government Areas.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the intervention is part of the government’s broader effort to address insecurity, support affected families, and promote peace and stability in the state.

Led by Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Danja, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Victims of Banditry and IDPs, the disbursement targeted families of individuals killed, injured, kidnapped, or who lost property and livestock during the July 25–26, 2025, attacks. Families of security personnel from the military, police, and Community Watch Corps who lost their lives received ₦1 million each, while families of deceased vigilantes were given ₦500,000. Injured officers and civilians received ₦200,000, kidnapped victims’ families got ₦100,000, and those injured by bandits received ₦50,000 after having their medical bills covered by the government.

The relief package extended beyond cash. Hajiya Binta Husaini Dangani, Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led the delivery of relief materials including 50 bags of rice, 20 bags of beans, 50 bags of sorghum, 8 bags of millet, 50 bags of maize, 200 mats, 10 jars of cooking oil, 10 cartons of seasoning, and 10 sachets of salt. These were distributed to affected households to ease their recovery process.

Lawmakers and community leaders praised the initiative. Hon. Abdurrahman Ahmad Kandarawa, representing Bakori at the State House of Assembly, described the support as a sign of government’s commitment to ending insecurity and protecting lives. He applauded the establishment of the Community Watch Corps and urged beneficiaries to make good use of the assistance to rebuild their lives.
Similarly, Malam Kabiru Dan Hamidu, Deputy Chairman of Bakori LGA, who stood in for the Council Chairman, commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s proactive approach to ensuring community safety and welfare. He encouraged the government to sustain its efforts in addressing the persistent security threats in the state.
The Secretary of Faskari Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmumini, emphasized the gesture as a demonstration of the state government’s compassion and empathy toward its citizens. The handover ceremony, held at the Bakori LGA Secretariat, drew attendance from political leaders, security personnel, and residents. Many beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, pledging to use the funds and items judiciously.
