Retired Major Hamzah Almustapha paid a condolence visit to Katsina State over the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that he first visited the Daura town, where the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, along with some top government officials, received him. Almustapha expressed his condolences to the late president’s family and described Buhari’s death as a great loss to Nigeria and the African continent.
Almustapha then moved to the Katsina city, where he was received by the Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal Jobe, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, and the Commander General of the HISBAH Commission, Dr. Aminu Abubakar, also known as Abu Ammar. The meeting took place at a conference room in the old GRA area. From there, he proceeded to the Katsina Emirate to offer condolences to the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman.
During his visit, Almustapha expressed deep sadness over Buhari’s passing, describing him as a patriotic leader who served Nigeria during both military and democratic rule. “While he was alive, Muhammadu Buhari had noble plans to move Nigeria forward. During the military regime of late General Sani Abacha, I worked closely with him and witnessed his commitment to improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” he said.
Finally, Almustapha prayed for Allah’s mercy on Buhari and for strength and patience for his family. The Deputy Governor of Katsina State, Faruk Lawal Jobe, appreciated the visit, saying it showed unity and respect. Those who accompanied Almustapha on the condolence visit included Dr. Ibrahim Sambo, Sidi Abba Sharif, and Alhaji Tijjani Danladi Kaura, among others.
