SDP Opens New Office in Safana, Katsina State

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially inaugurated a new office in Safana, Katsina State, marking a significant step in its local political engagement.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the event, held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, brought together party stakeholders and community members to celebrate the expansion of the party’s presence in the region.

Alhaji Bello Adamu Safana, the Katsina State Chairman of the SDP, led the inauguration alongside his team. He praised the efforts of local party leaders in Safana for their dedication to advancing the party’s agenda. The new office, designed and constructed by local SDP leaders, symbolizes the party’s commitment to grassroots development and political participation.

During the ceremony, Mustapha Muhammed Kurfi, the State Secretary of the SDP, addressed the challenges facing Nigerian governance, attributing them to internal democracy issues and the prevalence of godfatherism in politics. He emphasized that the SDP distinguishes itself from other political parties through its commitment to fair treatment of members and effective leadership.

Kurfi urged citizens to actively participate in the political process by obtaining SDP membership cards, which he described as essential for genuine involvement in the party’s activities. He expressed confidence that the SDP’s policies would resonate with the public and prepare them for the upcoming 2027 elections.

Hon. Umar Yakubu, the Chairman of the SDP in Safana Local Government Area, acknowledged the community’s support for the party. He highlighted the SDP’s previous electoral participation in the 2023 elections, noting the establishment of leadership across all ten wards in the local government area since 2022.

Special guest Alhaji Sani Bawa, the SDP chairman in Dutsinma Local Government, called on community members to join the party in its quest for meaningful change. He cited the leadership of Bello Adamu Safana and Mustapha Muhammed Kurfi as examples of dedication to serving the people and fostering development.

Political activist Aliyu Sheba described the SDP as a vital opportunity for impoverished Nigerians, urging youth and aspiring politicians to seize the moment for positive change. He encouraged greater involvement in the party to ensure effective leadership and governance.

The inauguration event attracted notable attendees, including Alhaji Sama’ila Aliyu, Hajiya Shafa’atu Zakka, and Nasiru Yahuza, reflecting the community’s interest in the SDP’s vision for a better future. The gathering underscored the party’s commitment to fostering unity and progress within the region.
