The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council, has appointed Alhaji Abubakar Shafi’i to lead preparations for the launch of the Online Media Chapel in the state.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the appointment was approved at a meeting held by the newly inducted members of the chapel at the NUJ Secretariat in Katsina on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the NUJ Katsina State Council, Aminu Garba Dandagoro, alongside other stakeholders of the association.
Dandagoro announced Shafi’i, publisher of Mobile Media Crew, as Chairman of the committee responsible for organising the official launch of the chapel. Mustapha Sadiq, publisher of Katsina Post, was appointed Secretary, while Zaharaddeen Ishaq Abubakar, Editor of Katsina Times, was appointed Treasurer.
The NUJ said the official launch of the Caretaker Committee is expected to take place soon, after which it will commence coordinating the activities of the Online Media Chapel in Katsina State. The committee will operate under the leadership and supervision of the NUJ in the state.
As members of the committee, they are expected to strengthen unity among online media practitioners, enhance professional skills, and promote compliance with journalistic ethics in disseminating accurate and credible information to the public.
