Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inaugurated the leadership of the APC Zallah Movement across the state’s 34 Local Government Areas and 361 wards, as the party begins preparations for the 2027 elections.
The inauguration was held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the People’s Square in Katsina, under the leadership of the movement’s Director-General, Dr Bala Nuhu Kankia. Governor Radda commended the group for its commitment to the APC and its support for the party’s leaders and candidates at different levels. He pledged to work closely with the movement to strengthen the party and support its success in the 2027 elections.
Radda said the movement’s decision to establish structures at ward level would help bring political activities closer to the people and enable its members to work with local communities. He urged the newly inaugurated leaders to work closely with APC ward leaders and supporters to communicate the government’s development programmes and achievements to the people.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the governor also expressed confidence that the APC would perform strongly in the 2027 elections, recalling the party’s victory in 2023. He said voters would assess the government based on its visible achievements rather than promises, adding that the administration’s projects and programmes across the state were open for public assessment.
Former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, praised Dr Kankia for establishing the movement and described him as a committed young politician. Dangiwa urged the newly inaugurated leaders to work hard for the success of the APC from the national level down to the grassroots, saying continued political support would help the government sustain its development programmes.
The APC Chairman in Katsina State, Dr Bishir Gambo Saulawa, also welcomed the inauguration, saying the movement would help strengthen coordination among party members. He urged the new leaders to return to their respective wards and work with existing APC structures to promote the party’s programmes and the achievements of Governor Radda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Saulawa said he was familiar with the movement and its founders, describing its objective as supporting President Tinubu, Governor Radda and other APC candidates. He also commended Dr Kankia for his continued support for the party and assured him of the state APC leadership’s cooperation.
In his remarks, Dr Bala Nuhu Kankia thanked Governor Radda for personally inaugurating the movement’s leadership structures across the 34 local government areas and 361 wards. He said the movement would use its grassroots network to communicate the APC’s policies and the government’s development programmes to communities across Katsina State.
Kankia said the movement would focus on highlighting government initiatives in areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture and security, as well as programmes implemented through agencies and institutions established to support communities, including the Community Development Programme (CDP) and Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA). He also praised Governor Radda for his efforts to promote development across urban and rural communities.
The event was attended by politicians, commissioners, government advisers, youths, women and other members of the public. Earlier, the governor and other supporters also pledged various forms of assistance to the movement, including vehicles and financial support, to strengthen its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
