A political activist, Hon. Abu Yusuf Tela, has called on the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to strengthen internal unity and improve engagement with members following the recent exit of some party members.
In a statement sent to Hikaya Newspaper on Saturday, July 25, 2026, Tela described the departure of some party members as unfortunate. He said while members may leave for different reasons, every exit should serve as an opportunity for the party’s leadership to reflect on what can be improved to reduce similar occurrences in the future.
According to him, the strength of a political party lies not only in attracting new members but also in retaining, appreciating, and motivating those who have remained committed through difficult periods. He added that the departure of members does not automatically mean that a party has become weak, but it should be viewed as important feedback that deserves careful attention.
Tela expressed hope that the ADC leadership and the party’s governorship candidate would place greater emphasis on reaching out to members, encouraging them, and creating an environment where every member feels respected and valued for their contributions. He noted that political parties seeking public support should consistently maintain close relationships with their members and address concerns before they become major challenges.
He said his remarks were made out of his commitment to the growth of the party rather than criticism of any individual. According to him, stronger internal unity, better communication, and recognition of committed members would help make the ADC a stronger political force in future elections.
