Katsina SDP Chairman Congratulates National Chairman Over Leadership Recognition

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Katsina State, Bello Adamu Safana, has congratulated the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe, following his formal assumption of office as the INEC-recognised leader of the party.

In a congratulatory message issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, and made available to Hikaya Newspaper, Safana described Prof. Gombe’s emergence as a major milestone that marks the end of the party’s prolonged internal leadership crisis. He said the development reflects the triumph of patience, constitutional procedures, and the rule of law within the SDP.

The Katsina SDP chairman commended Prof. Gombe for his steadfast leadership throughout the legal and internal party processes that culminated in the recognition of the current National Working Committee by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He said the achievement has restored confidence among party members across the country.

Safana also praised the National Chairman’s commitment to due process, party discipline, and internal democracy. He noted that the successful resolution of the leadership dispute has positioned the SDP for greater unity and stronger participation in future elections.

He welcomed Prof. Gombe’s call for reconciliation, urging all aggrieved members to embrace peace and work together for the growth of the party. According to him, unity remains essential if the SDP is to provide Nigerians with a credible political alternative.

The Katsina chairman further expressed confidence in the party’s renewed leadership, saying it is capable of presenting practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges, including insecurity, education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and economic development. He urged party members at all levels to remain committed to the party’s constitution and ideals.

Safana congratulated Prof. Gombe on behalf of the SDP family in Katsina State and wished him a successful tenure as National Chairman. He expressed optimism that the party would continue to grow stronger under his leadership as it prepares for future electoral contests.
