Dr. Tsiga credits to God for surviving from kidnappers

Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), has expressed gratitude to God for his safe return after being held captive for 56 days. Tsiga, who was abducted from his hometown in Katsina State on February 5, was reunited with his family on Thursday, along with 18 other victims, by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, in Abuja.

During his captivity, Tsiga faced numerous life-threatening challenges, including encounters with wild animals and the constant threat of being harmed by his abductors. He recounted an incident where a hyena appeared near their location, posing a significant threat to their safety. Tsiga also mentioned that they were often exposed to snakes and scorpions, making their experience even more perilous.

The former NYSC DG revealed that the terrorists who held them captive only feared military aircraft, showing no regard for human life or divine authority. Tsiga also shared that the quality of food provided to them was another significant health concern, with the terrorists claiming that the government allocated funds for their upkeep.

Tsiga emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the country’s insecurity challenges. He urged Nigerians not to rely solely on the government to tackle these issues, but rather to take an active role in promoting peace and security.

The retired army general’s experience serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by terrorism and the need for concerted efforts to combat this menace. As Nigeria continues to grapple with insecurity, Tsiga’s call to action underscores the importance of unity and cooperation in achieving lasting peace.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the Tsiga’s reunion with his family marks a triumphant end to a harrowing experience, and his testimony serves as a beacon of hope in the face of adversity.
