The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Jibia local government, Katsina state, has begun preparations to receive prominent politicians defecting from the ruling APC and PDP parties.
The decision was made during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the SDP Headquarters in Jibia Local Government Area, where Hon. Hamisu Yusuf, Deputy Chairman of SDP in Katsina State, and Comrade Kabir Mu’azu, Chairman of SDP in Jibia Local Government, led discussions on accepting defectors into the party.
According to Hon. Hamisu Yusuf, the SDP party is open to receiving individuals from other parties who share its vision and values. “People are contacting us, expressing their intention to switch from their parties to our SDP party, due to the failure of APC and PDP to fulfill their promises,” he said.
The SDP party’s manifesto, which prioritizes good governance and advancing the masses, is seen as a major draw for defectors. Hon. Yusuf emphasized that the SDP is the only party that truly meets the needs of the Nigerian people.
Comrade Kabir Mu’azu added that the party has already made significant preparations to receive defectors, many of whom are valuable members of their communities. He stressed that joining forces with these individuals will help the SDP to achieve its goal of challenging the ruling APC government.
Mu’azu also highlighted the importance of ensuring that defectors align with the SDP’s ideals, particularly its commitment to good governance and serving the community.
The SDP’s efforts to welcome defectors from other parties come as Nigeria’s political landscape continues to evolve, with various parties jostling for position ahead of future elections.
