The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with critical stakeholders to combat vandalism of pipelines and crude oil theft in the Niger Delta.
This resolve was made clear during the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s operational tour across oil facilities and critical infrastructure in the region.
Dr. Audi emphasized the need for stronger synergy amongst critical stakeholders to make the fight against oil theft a success. He noted that the NSCDC is working tirelessly to combat oil theft and vandalism, arrest and prosecute offenders, and ensure an increase in oil production. The Commandant General attributed the Corps’ efforts to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The NSCDC Boss believes that effective collaboration, coordination, and cooperation amongst critical stakeholders, coupled with actionable intelligence and information sharing, will drastically reduce environmental degradation, pipeline vandalism, and crude oil theft. This, in turn, will lead to an increase in oil production.
During his address to NSCDC operatives deployed to the Creek, Dr. Audi stressed the importance of professionalism, patriotism, and loyalty in service to the nation. He commended their unwavering commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, urging them not to relent in their efforts.
Dr. Audi’s visit aimed to boost the morale of the operatives and encourage them to discharge their duties with responsibility. He assured them that their welfare would continue to be adequately covered. The NSCDC’s commitment to combating oil theft and vandalism is a step in the right direction, and its success will depend on the continued collaboration between the Corps, critical stakeholders, and the public.
The NSCDC’s efforts to combat oil theft and vandalism are part of its broader mandate to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure. As the Corps continues to work tirelessly to protect the nation’s resources, its success will have a positive impact on the economy and the environment.
