The Katsina state branch of the National Online Media Forum (NOMF) has held its inaugural meeting, marking a significant milestone in the state’s online media landscape. The meeting took place on Sunday at the Reality News TV office in Mangal Plaza, Kofar Kaura, Katsina state.
According to Umar Lawal Funtua, National President of the Forum, the primary objective of NOMF is to safeguard journalism from unscrupulous individuals who practice without proper training or experience. This move aims to promote ethical journalism and maintain the integrity of online media.
During the meeting, Shafi’i Abubakar Alolo of Mobile Media Crew was appointed as the interim Chairman of the Forum in Katsina State. Nasiru Umar represented Alolo at the meeting, where he received the appointment letter.
The meeting provided a platform for online media representatives to discuss strategies for establishing a robust Online Media Forum in Katsina State. Attendees included representatives from various Katsina-based online news media outlets, such as Jadawali TV, Fitila Online, and Reality News TV, Hikaya Newspaper, Fact Broadcasting Company (FBC).
Some of the notable online media outlets that attended the meeting include Salwa RTV, Jakadiya Online Media, Xsound Media, Albishir Media, Verified News, and Katsina Times. The diverse representation underscores the commitment of online media practitioners in Katsina State to promote responsible and ethical journalism.
The Forum is expected to convene again to discuss matters related to the interim leadership and other pressing issues that will propel the organization forward.
