Security Officer Accused on Illegal Gun Shooting in Jibia

A Mobile Police officer has been accused of illegally shooting and injuring some residents of Lankwasau village in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State. The incident occurred when Bishir Ibrahim left his motorcycle at the security officer’s check-poinr to seek refuge.

According to eyewitnesses, Bishir Ibrahim informed the villagers about the incident, and they rushed to the check-point to retrieve his motorcycle. However, the Mobile Police officer allegedly fired shots at the crowd, injuring two people, Ibrahim and Usman. They were rushed to the general hospital in Jibia for treatment, with Bishir Ibrahim taking responsibility for their medical expenses.

The villagers have condemned the incident, stating that this is the third time a similar incident has occurred in the area. They expressed frustration that no strong action has been taken by the authorities to address the issue. The villagers are now hoping that those involved in security and human rights will intervene to ensure justice for the affected individuals.

FBC reports that the Katsina State Police Command has been contacted for comment on the incident. However, as of the time of writing this report, the Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, has not responded.

The incident has raised concerns about the conduct of some security personnel in the state. Residents are calling for greater accountability and transparency in the handling of such incidents.

The Lankwasau village community is still reeling from the shock of the incident, and tensions remain high. The community is eagerly awaiting a response from the authorities and hoping for a swift resolution to the matter.
