INEC resumes voter registration May 11

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the third and final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will begin on May 11, 2026, across the country.

INEC said the previous phase of the exercise was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow the commission clean up the voter register after it was displayed for public claims and objections. According to the commission, the final phase will run from May 11 to July 10, 2026.

The commission called on all eligible Nigerians who have turned 18 or missed earlier registration to take advantage of the opportunity. It also advised registered voters who want to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their personal details to visit INEC offices or use its online portal.

INEC further said the voter register will be displayed again for claims and objections from July 23 to July 29, 2026. The commission assured the public that all arrangements have been made for a smooth process and urged citizens to participate in order to strengthen the country’s electoral system.
