“Clash Erupts Over ADC Membership Card Distribution in Daura”

A dispute has broken out over the distribution of party membership cards in Daura, Katsina State.

Hon. Umar Shu’aibu Marah said the incident occurred at the Arena Conference Hall in Daura, where youths, both male and female, expressed their dissatisfaction with the way membership cards of the were being distributed. He alleged that two individuals who claimed to be party leaders took control of the distribution process from the party officials.

According to him, the two individuals, who are said to be aspirants in the forthcoming elections, secretly distributed the membership cards to their supporters during the night before publicly announcing that the official distribution would be launched later. This action, he said, angered many youths and party members.

The youths therefore demanded that the membership cards be brought forward and shared openly among the twelve local government areas in the Daura zone, as expected under the party’s arrangement. However, tension rose after allegations that some people had already given the cards to their loyalists secretly.

Marah added that party authorities have stated that no official launch of the card distribution took place in the Daura zone, Funtua zone, or even in Katsina. He stressed that the distribution of party membership cards is the responsibility of the party leadership, not individual candidates or aspirants.
