Radda Launches N80m Empowerment Programme for 1,200 Beneficiaries

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has launched an N80 million empowerment programme benefiting 1,000 women and 200 youths in Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the support package was provided by the member representing Bindawa in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Ali Bindawa.

At the event held on February 26, 2026, 100 bags of rice and 100 bags of millet, along with other food items, were shared to support families during Ramadan. In addition, 1,000 women received beans and ₦10,000 each to start small businesses, while 200 youths were given ₦50,000 each to start or expand their trades. Five vehicles were also distributed to party officials in the area.

Governor Radda praised Hon. Umar Ali for the initiative, saying such programmes help reduce hardship and improve the local economy. He urged other political office holders to copy this example and invest in people-centered projects that promote self-reliance and social welfare.

In his remarks, Hon. Umar Ali said the programme aims to empower women and youths to become financially independent and reduce poverty in his constituency. He explained that supporting small businesses will create more economic activities and improve living standards in Bindawa.

Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support. A woman who received the business package said the money and beans would help her expand her petty trading. A youth beneficiary also said the ₦50,000 would assist him in growing his tailoring business.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya Daura, Deputy Speaker Abduljalal Haruna Runka, Chief of Staff Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, other lawmakers, and community leaders.
