In a statement, the governor described the appointment as timely and strategic. He said the new police chief would bring fresh energy, new ideas, and strong leadership to Nigeria’s security system at a time when the country is facing serious security challenges.
Governor Radda noted that Olatunji Disu has had a distinguished career in the police, with successful operations against organized crime and a strong commitment to community policing. He said the new IGP is taking office at a critical time when Nigerians expect firm and decisive action against insecurity, adding that his past record gives hope that he will deliver good results.
The governor pledged the full support of Katsina State to the Nigeria Police Force under Disu’s leadership. He said the state government is ready to partner with the police to flush out bandits and terrorists troubling communities, especially in the North-West. He promised intelligence sharing, logistical support, and stronger community engagement to help restore peace.
Governor Radda also called for better coordination between state security agencies and the police. He urged the new Acting IGP to give priority to states affected by banditry when deploying officers and resources. He assured him of an enabling environment for effective policing in Katsina and prayed that Almighty Allah grants him wisdom, strength, and guidance to lead successfully.
