Akency Concludes First Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition

The Akency Foundation, under the leadership of Hon. Abdulhakim Aliyu Sani (Dan Galadiman Jibia), has successfully concluded the first Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the competition, which lasted several days at the Salmanul Farisi Jumu’at Mosque, ended with an award ceremony held at the Palace of the Sarkin Arewan Katsina, the District Head of Jibia, on Monday, November 3, 2025.

More than 20 Islamiyya schools participated in the event, including Tarbiyatul Islam, Hizburrahim, Ibni Abbas, Zaidu bin Sabit, Tahsisir Qur’an, Nuril Islam, Radiyya, Madina, Fadima (Magama), and Tarbiyatul Aulad. Male and female students competed in five categories Hizb 2, Hizb 10, Hizb 20, Hizb 40, and Hizb 60. At the end of the contest, Abubakar Aminu Mansir from Tarbiyatul Islam School emerged as the King of Recitation, while Ummulkulsum Hassan Rabiu was crowned as the Queen of Recitation.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Abdulhakim Aliyu Sani, President of Akency Foundation, said the competition was part of his commitment to promoting Islamic knowledge and community development. He added, “I dedicate this competition to my late father, Malam Aliyu Sani, as a form of service and reward to him.” He further assured that the competition would become an annual event aimed at encouraging students of Qur’anic schools to continue excelling.

The competition’s organizing committee chairman, Nura Sa’ad, explained that the goal of the event was to motivate students to strengthen their Qur’anic memorization and moral discipline. Also, the SAJ Foundation supported the initiative by awarding ₦10,000 each to participating students, a gesture confirmed by the Chairman of SAJ Foundation, Hon. Sirajo Ado, who commended the progress brought to Jibia by Hon. Abdulhakim.

The representative of Education Authority in Jibia, Malam Bishir Muhammad Sani, praised the Akency Foundation for initiating what he described as a first-of-its-kind educational and religious empowerment programme in the area. He expressed the authority’s readiness to collaborate with the Foundation to sustain and expand such beneficial projects.

The Sarkin Arewan Katsina, the District Head of Jibia, alongside other dignitaries, honored the winners, their parents, and teachers, urging them to remain dedicated to learning. Scholars and community members expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Abdulhakim Akency for his devotion to promoting Islamic education and moral values, while offering prayers for the continued success of his humanitarian efforts.
