Newly Commissioners Conducts Handover in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock

The Katsina State Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development on Friday, October 31, 2025, held a formal handover and takeover ceremony involving the incoming Commissioner, Hon. Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, the outgoing Commissioner and newly appointed Commissioner for the Ministry of Livestock Development, Professor Ahmed Mohammed Bakori, as well as the outgoing Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock and Grazing Reserves and new Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the event, held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, marked a smooth transition of leadership to ensure continuity in the state’s agricultural and livestock development reforms.

The outgoing Special Adviser to the Governor on Livestock and Grazing Reserves and new Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of the Ministry for their cooperation, dedication, and support during his tenure. He congratulated Professor Ahmed Mohammed Bakori on his new appointment as Commissioner for Livestock Development and prayed for his success. Jibia also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with the agricultural sector to strengthen education-based interventions that promote youth participation in agricultural productivity and rural development.

The outgoing Commissioner for Agriculture and incoming Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development, Professor Ahmed Mohammed Bakori, commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda for his visionary leadership and foresight in establishing the new ministry. He said the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development would enhance livestock management, boost productivity, and create new economic opportunities for farmers and herders across the state.

Professor Bakori also pledged to work diligently with all directors and staff to implement the Governor’s agricultural transformation agenda and ensure sustainable development in the livestock sector.

He further emphasized that livestock development plays a vital role in achieving food security, improving nutrition, and empowering rural communities. According to him, the new ministry would introduce innovative policies and programs that will modernize animal husbandry, improve grazing systems, and promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

In his address, the new Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Aliyu Lawal Shargalle, who previously served as Commissioner for Youth and Sports, commended his predecessors for their achievements and pledged to build upon their successes. He expressed delight at joining the ministry and assured all directors and staff of his readiness to work with them in unity to advance the agricultural sector in Katsina State. Shargalle also called for dedication and teamwork among ministry staff to meet the administration’s objectives of ensuring food security and economic diversification.

Hon. Shargalle extended his appreciation to Governor Dikko Umar Radda for the confidence reposed in him and promised to justify the trust through hard work, accountability, and innovation. He further emphasized the importance of agriculture as the backbone of the state’s economy and assured that the ministry would prioritize mechanization, irrigation, and youth empowerment in agriculture.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the ministry, directors, and stakeholders from the agricultural sector. It concluded with a collective commitment from the three commissioners to continue supporting Governor Radda’s vision of transforming Katsina State through innovation, productivity, and effective service delivery in both the agriculture and education sectors.
