Yusuf Sulaiman Assumes at Katsina Ministry of Education

The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education on Thursday, October 30, 2025, held a brief but significant handing over and taking over ceremony between the incoming Commissioner, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, and the outgoing Commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, at the Ministry’s Conference Hall.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the event marked a smooth transition of leadership aimed at ensuring the continuity of reforms and developmental programs in the state’s education sector.

In his remarks, the new Commissioner, Hon. Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia, pledged his total commitment to work diligently with all staff of the ministry to advance education in Katsina State. He expressed appreciation to Governor Dikko Umar Radda for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that his administration will focus on strengthening basic education, improving teacher welfare, and enhancing school infrastructure across the state.

Hon. Jibia also appealed to Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa to continue offering her valuable advice and support toward sustaining the ministry’s progress.

On her part, the outgoing Commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, thanked the management and staff of the ministry for their cooperation and dedication during her tenure.

She described her period in office as fulfilling and impactful, highlighting achievements in curriculum reform, school renovation, and teacher training. Hajiya Zainab prayed for the success of her successor and expressed confidence that Hon. Jibia’s leadership would further elevate the standard of education in the state.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Kabir Magaji Gafia, welcomed the new Commissioner and expressed optimism that his experience, commitment, and passion for education would bring renewed energy to the sector. He assured him of the board’s full support in implementing policies that would improve learning outcomes and ensure access to quality education for all children in Katsina State.

In his goodwill message, the Chairman of Jibia Local Government, Hon. Sirajo Ado, congratulated Hon. Yusuf Jibia on his appointment and commended Governor Radda for recognizing his dedication by elevating him from Special Adviser to Commissioner. He expressed confidence that the education sector will witness remarkable progress under his leadership.

The ceremony was attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, politicians, business personalities, relatives, and well-wishers who came to celebrate with the new Commissioner.
