Shettima to Commission Key Projects in Katsina

Katsina State will on Tuesday welcome Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for the commissioning of major infrastructure and economic projects initiated by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that the Vice President will officially launch the 9th Expanded National MSME Clinic, commission the dualized Central Mosque–Kiddies Roundabout Road, and unveil the Katsina Sustainable Platform for Agriculture (KASPA) a groundbreaking digital system designed to connect thousands of farmers across the state.

Addressing journalists at the Katsina Government House, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, led a media briefing alongside the Commissioners for Works, Agriculture, and the Director-General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), Hajiya Aisha Aminu Malumfashi. Malumfashi described the Vice President’s visit as a “major milestone” in the state’s drive toward economic diversification and youth empowerment.

She explained that the MSME Clinic, scheduled for October 21, 2025, will gather entrepreneurs, regulators, and financial institutions for exhibitions, mentoring, and direct business support, including access to loans and registration services. The event will also feature the first-ever Katsina MSME Awards Night to honour outstanding entrepreneurs.

Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Kabir Magaji Ingawa, disclosed that the Vice President will commission the newly completed 3.3-kilometre dual carriageway linking the Central Mosque Roundabout to Kiddies Roundabout via WTC, constructed at a cost of ₦1.9 billion.

He noted that the project includes solar-powered streetlights, walkways, and modern drainage systems to enhance road safety and ease traffic flow. “This road is more than infrastructure; it’s an enabler of trade,” he said, emphasizing that it will reduce travel time and promote night-time commercial activities.

In the agricultural sector, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Prof. Ahmad Muhammad Bakori, said the Vice President will also unveil KASPA, a digital agriculture platform designed to link farmers directly with experts, markets, and agro-input suppliers across the 34 local government areas. He described it as a “revolutionary bridge” that will transform farming communication and increase productivity.

Ahead of the visit, Katsina will also host the graduation of the first cohort of the Dikko Social Innovation Academy a youth initiative producing innovators in areas like recycling and renewable energy. The officials collectively affirmed that the Vice President’s visit reflects the Federal Government’s confidence in Governor Radda’s reform agenda and his commitment to transforming Katsina through innovation-driven growth.
