Twenty Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from various security-challenged local government areas in Katsina State have received relief support from the state government.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the support, which includes daily essential items, was distributed under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umar Radda as part of efforts to alleviate the suffering of displaced individuals affected by banditry.
The distribution event took place on Friday, July 18, 2025, and was coordinated by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons, Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Danja, popularly known as Kogunan Jibia.
He personally oversaw the disbursement of items, which included one mat, one bedsheet, and one solar-powered lamp for each beneficiary. The gesture was carried out in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and ALIMA, whose joint program focuses on creating safe spaces for IDPs and strengthening child protection.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Permanent Secretary of the Katsina State Government House, Pharmacist Yusuf Charanchi; the District Head of Kuraye, Alhaji Usman Darda’u; and a representative of Helen Keller International, Mr. Daniel Mickel. The event was held at the Press Center Conference Room, Government House, Katsina.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Danja stated: “This support is a demonstration of Governor Radda’s commitment to the welfare of victims of banditry and displaced persons. We are partnering with international agencies like IRC and ALIMA to ensure our IDPs live in dignity and safety. This is just the beginning, as more interventions are on the way to ease their hardship and restore their hope.”
