Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has officially announced the burial arrangements for Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died yesterday in a hospital in London. The governor disclosed this while addressing journalists during a press briefing in Katsina.
According to Governor Radda, after consultations with the late President’s family and close associates in London, it has been agreed that Buhari’s remains will be flown into Katsina by 12 noon on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He added that the burial will take place the same day at 2:00 p.m. in Daura, the hometown of the deceased former leader.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that Governor Radda extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of himself, the government, and the people of Katsina State to Buhari’s family and all Nigerians grieving the loss. He described the late President as a national icon whose contributions to the country will never be forgotten. “We pray Almighty Allah to grant his soul eternal rest and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus,” he said.
The governor also extended condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the death of his predecessor. He assured that the Katsina State Government, in collaboration with federal authorities and the family, is making all necessary arrangements to ensure a dignified and befitting farewell for the elder statesman.
