Gafia United Football Club has emerged victorious in the Dr. Kabir Magaji Supporters Cup, defeating Kaita United Football Club 2-1 in a thrilling match held at the Isah Kaita Primary School Stadium in Kaita, Katsina State, on Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Hikaya Newspaper reports that the match was organized to congratulate Dr. Kabir Magaji on his two-year in office as Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) of Katsina State.
The match saw Gafia United score two goals, with Muhammad Nagoma scoring the first goal during first-five minutes into the final match. Despite Kaita United’s efforts, Gafia United’s goalkeeper, Muhammad Sufiyanu, saved a goal from Daddy Abbas, while Kaita United’s goalkeeper, Muhammad Abubakar, failed to save two goals from Gafia United.
The final match was attended by key stakeholders of Kaita Local Government Area, including the Secretary of Kaita Local Government Area, Hon. Nasiru Rabi’u, and Hon. Sahalu Zubairu, who represented Dr. Kabir Magaji Gafia. In his speech, Hon. Sahalu Zubairu explained that the football tournament was organized to encourage the youth and unite the people of Kaita Local Government Area.
After the match, players from Gafia United were presented with medals, and the trophy was presented to the captain of Gafia United by Hon. Salahu Zubairu. A group of youth from Yankara and Macika in Funtua zone in southern Katsina State also attended the final match and presented an award to Dr. Kabir Magaji Gafia’s representative, Hon. Sahalu Zubairu, for his contributions to the development of Katsina State.
