A joint security forces in Katsina State have successfully neutralized 30 armed bandits during a coordinated counter-attack in Faskari Local Government Area. The attack occurred on July 8, 2025, when hundreds of heavily armed bandits simultaneously attacked the communities of Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi.
According to a press release issued by Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Katsina State, the security forces were immediately mobilized upon receiving intelligence of the attacks. Additional reinforcements from Dandume and the Nigerian Air Force were swiftly deployed to the affected areas, leading to intense confrontations that ultimately repelled the attackers.
The security forces, comprising Police Mobile Force operatives, military personnel, and Nigerian Air Force components, successfully neutralized 30 bandits through coordinated air strikes as they attempted to escape. However, the operation came at a great cost, with five security personnel and one civilian losing their lives. The fallen heroes include three Police Mobile Force personnel, two soldiers, and civilian Aliyu Sa’adu from Kadisau village.
Dr. Mua’zu extended deepest condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and the affected communities, assuring that their sacrifice will never be forgotten and their families will receive full government support. He also assured residents of Katsina State that the government remains committed to crushing banditry and restoring lasting peace to the state.
The Katsina State Government has called on residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely information to security agencies, assuring that security operations will be intensified to ensure the safety of all citizens.
