Katsina Security Forces Neutralize 12 Bandits

Katsina State Government has confirmed the neutralization of twelve armed bandits in a coordinated security operation carried out in the Kurfi-Safana axis on June 18, 2025.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that this was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mua’zu.

According to the statement, the operation followed an early morning intelligence report that led to a swift response by a joint team of Police, Army, Community Watch, and Vigilante personnel. The bandits had earlier attacked Rahamawa village through Kuraye District in Charanchi Local Government Area around 5:40 AM, where they injured a 60-year-old resident, Alhaji Danmalam, and stole twenty-two cattle.

The security team reportedly intercepted the assailants at Dutsen Falale in the Kurfi-Safana area, where a fierce gun battle ensued. Twelve bandits were killed during the exchange, while five AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and all rustled cattle were recovered.

Unfortunately, the attack led to the death of Alhaji Danmalam, who succumbed to his injuries at the Primary Healthcare Center in Charanchi. The operation also claimed the life of one vigilante member, while a soldier sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

Dr. Mua’zu, speaking on behalf of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and praised the security operatives for their bravery. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided.
